Wine Tips

Get to know a retailer that you trust. They taste a lot more wine than any one consumer, and it is their job to know what is new and hot and fun in the wine world. Once you start buying and giving them feed back on your like and dislikes, it can really become a more customized process for the consumer.

Try multiple vintage from one winery's best vineyard, and explore the concept of Terroir.

Go to tastings! You will have a chance to try many wines without spending a lot of money, and there will frequently be an educational component to the event.

Keep your wine consistent! Consistent temperature is the key to graceful aging.

The keys to wine storage is: temperature, UV light, vibration and humidity, consistent temperature, limit UV light exposure, limit vibration, keep at 30-40% humidity.

Experiment with different regions, but the same varietals of wine. i.e. Pinot Noir from Oregon, California and New Zealand.

Ask a sommelier for a great suggestion, but give him an idea of what you are looking for and a price range you are willing to pay.

When "cellaring" wine keep both reds and whites at the same temperature between 56-58 degrees.

When serving red wine allow it to warm up slightly to a 68-70 degrees temperature.

When serving white wine allow it to chill slightly to a 40 degree temperature.
